Bukit Bintang

Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square)

The Merdeka Square (Independence Square or Dataran Merdeka) is situated in the center of the city. It is the core of Kuala Lumpur's history. Here you find buildings like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Royal Selangor Club, and the National History museum. Some of them peppered with Moorish flavour. A 100 metre-high flagpole marks the spot where the Malayan Flag was hoisted on August 31, 1957 signifying the independence of the country from British rule. Merdeka Square is also the popular venue for various other events - open air concerts, carnivals, starting/finishing point for marathons etc. Occasionally it will be turned into battle ground for cricket match, just like it used to be during the colonial days.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is an iconic and popular tourist attraction in Selangor. Site of a Hindu temple and shrine, this popular spot attracts thousands of worshipers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival - Thaipusam. A limestone outcrop located at the north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance,  besides a steep of 272 climb up steps to finally view the stunning city skyline. Monkeys frolic around the caves, and a popular spot for rock climbing enthusiasts. Paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods can also be seen in the Ramayana Cave.
